The Housing Authority in Western Australia held a presentation on 27 October 2016 to introduce the new Community Housing Regulatory Framework. The new Framework will replace the current Community Housing Registration Policy and commence 1 April 2017.
The new Framework is consistent with the National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH).
The Framework is outcomes focused and adopts a risk based approach to monitor and respond to risks that have serious consequences for tenants, funders and investors, community housing assets and the reputation of the sector.
The Framework also applies the NRSCH principles to ensure the regulation of community housing providers is proportionate, accountable, consistent, transparent, flexible and targeted.
Unlike the legislated NRSCH, which is underpinned by the Community Housing Providers National Law Act 2012, the WA Framework is policy based.
Further information sessions will be scheduled to provide more detailed information to existing registered providers and those wishing to become registered under the new Framework.
The new Framework and additional information can be found on the Housing Authority website.
