Australian Capital Territory

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) is a participant in the National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH). On May 2013, the ACT Legislative Assembly passed the Community Housing Providers National Law (ACT) Act 2013 to apply as a territory law, the National Law for the registration and regulation of community housing providers under a national system of registration.

The Community Housing Providers National Law replaces the previous ACT Regulatory System for Not–for–Profit housing providers.

All ACT registered community housing providers (CHPs) were required to apply to be transitioned to register under the NRSCH within an 18-month transition period that commenced on 1 January 2014.

Community Housing providers not previously registered were encourged to apply.
